Cheap Traffic with Image ads & Google Adwords Content Network

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

This lesson is going to show you how to get cheap clicks with Image or banner ads and Google’s content network. That may sound odd to you… since Google adwords is the most expensive place to advertise online.

Most people tend to shy away from image ads because they find it to difficult to create the ads. Those who use image/banner ads successfully can get cost per clicks as low as .03 cents a click.

In this lesson we are going to show you how to create image ads quickly and find placements in the Google adwords content network.

Are you ready? The thing you will need to know are the ad sizes that Google will allow you to run in their content network. You can Google “adwords ad sizes” and then click on the link that takes you to adwords helpcenter page that displays the ad sizes.

Adwords Ad Sizes:
120 X 600
160 X 600
200 X 200
250 X 250
300 X 250
336 X 280
468 X 60
728 X 90

These ads are in pixel sizes. For example 120 pixels. Also you should know the ads are at 72 dpi/ppi. ppi stands for pixels per inch. 72 dpi/ppi is the resolution of your computer monitor.

Now, that we know the sizes of the ads, we need some software that can create image or banner ads. This type of software is called image editing software. The best known of the image editing software is called Adobe Photoshop. Now, I am NOT saying to buy the latest version on Adobe Photoshop, it is out of the price range of most people. But, you can find old versions for sale on ebay and Amazon.com, any version newer than 4.0 will do the job. Some other image editing softwares are Corel paint,Serif PhotoPlus X2, fotoflexer, picnic, Adobe Elements.

Once you have Adobe photoshop or other editor installed, copy the ads from Adwords helpcenter and paste them into your photo editor as a new file.

The elements you have to work with are photo, text and color. In the training video I show you how to use layers and how to move your objects inside those layers. I also show you how to resize an image on a layer.

I get my royality free images from Istockphoto.com or clipart.com. Use images the get peoples attention. Your ad should raise a question in the
viewers mind. I use bright colors as well.

You have to design the same ads in each size. Once your design is completed save your image as both a .psd and .png file. Save them all in a folder.

The next step is download and install Adwords editor. Once installed ad a new campaign and ad group. In ad group tab click on the “ad” tab. Then click on Image Ad. Then click mulitple ads tab. A new widow will pop up and add your images using the add button. Include to display and destination URL.

Now your ads are imported, you have to go find placements. There are few ways to do this.

1. You can select Auto placements and Google will find places to place your ad automaticly. Typically this is more expensive and less targeted.

2. Is login to adwords and use there placement finder tool. This is less expensive but the traffic is not as high as you would like.

3. I use software call Aggressive PPC that searches Google and finds all the pages that rank on the first three pages for your keywords and that offer adwords space. This way you have high traffic and low cost.

Once you find your placements you can paste them into your adwords editor under placements and set your bid price.

The last step is to upload your ads to your Adwords account and wait for your ads to be approved.

Once your ads are running watch your placement and see which one are getting the most clicks. Also start more than one ad group and test different add copy to see which one converts the best.
